Their focus is on helping the clients of The CarbonNeutral Company develop strategic carbon reduction programmes that deliver business value.
The team is also supported by an Advisory Forum (AF) of international carbon management experts from science, economics, business, international policy and sustainable development backgrounds. They guide the Company on its work in climate change, and on the strategic, scientific and technical aspects of its activities.
Chief Executive Officer
Stephen Killeen joined The CarbonNeutral Company in 2007 and is its President, CEO and Chairman. Stephen leads the Company’s strategic direction and growth and oversees all aspects of the Company’s operation. His leadership and vision are the driving forces behind The CarbonNeutral Company’s client-centric approach, which has led to the rapid growth of the Company’s global customer base, strategic partnerships, technology platforms and innovative products and services.
Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer, Jon May is responsible for The CarbonNeutral Company’s strategic development, risk management and financial operations. He joined the company in 2008 following its merger with US based carbon management business GreenLife, where he was one of the founding members.
Managing Director and External Affairs
As Managing Director, Jonathan Shopley leads The CarbonNeutral Company’s contribution to international policy developments on climate change and standards for carbon trading and carbon offsetting. Jonathan joined the company in 2001 as CEO, and led the Company’s evolution and expansion across Europe before assuming his current role in 2007.
Director of Carbon Sourcing
Zubair joined The CarbonNeutral Company in 2009 and is responsible for originating, screening and structuring investments in high quality carbon reduction projects. He has contracted millions of tonnes of global emission reductions and in 2009 he was part of the team that invested in the world’s first VCS forestry project. Before joining The CarbonNeutral Company, Zubair was Vice President at CantorCO2e, developing new origination markets in South East Asia. He holds a BA from Kings College, a Masters in Management from ESCP-Europe and has completed post-graduate and executive training at Harvard University and London Business School.
Rebecca joined The CarbonNeutral Company as Marketing Director in June 2009, with responsibility for developing the strategic marketing direction of the company, working closely with clients to develop communications plans around their carbon reduction programmes, and establishing a comprehensive network of channel marketing partners. Rebecca has worked in marketing for large corporations for more than 20 years, including Reuters, Factiva and Dow Jones. Most recently she served as Vice President, Global Field Marketing for the Dow Jones Enterprise Media Group. Previously she led marketing for Factiva, a joint venture between Dow Jones and Reuters, which provides business news to enterprises.
Executive Vice President, Business Development (U.S.)
Mark joined The CarbonNeutral Company in 2008 as EVP of Business Development. He leads the company's work in the Americas to help clients manage their environmental and carbon impacts and drive positive business results. Mark brings more than 25 years' experience as a senior sustainability and business development executive to his role. Prior to joining the company Mark was with Interface and was fortunate enough to be near the epicenter of Ray Anderson's sustainability epiphany, as a result of which he refocused his career to service as VP Sustainability for Interface's Fabrics Division. Mark is passionate about the role of market-based sustainability solutions and is focused on helping The CarbonNeutral Company understand and leverage them on behalf of our clients.
Eric M. Bennett
Executive Vice President, Strategic Development
Eric joined the The CarbonNeutral Company in November 2008 as EVP, Strategic Development upon its acquisition of GreenLife. Eric has 14 years of experience as a business professional in a variety of functional areas and has been responsible for structuring and managing numerous complex, international multi-party project financings and other corporate and business development transactions in the film and television, defense, and carbon management industries. Eric holds an MBA with Distinction from the Stern School of Business at NYU and a Bachelors degree in Psychology from UCLA.
Nathan joined The CarbonNeutral Company in 2007 as a senior member of the business development team. He now leads the Europe and Asia business development and client relationship teams, focused on working with leading businesses to understand and reduce their carbon footprint in a way that strengthens their business. Nathan has 14 years business development experience working at FT Business, Reed Elsevier and Williams Lea. Among other roles, Nathan has been responsible for launching a new high worth private investor event, a new industry sector of the UK’s leading international food and drink exhibition and establishing a partnership approach for a global operation specialising in business process outsourcing.
Head of Strategic Development
Oliver has over 10 years of experience working in the energy and environmental management sector; beginning his career with analytical roles at British Airways then JP Morgan, he went on to spend five years as a Management Consultant with Accenture, advising some of the world’s largest energy firms on their corporate strategy.
Kate joined The CarbonNeutral Company in February 2009 and is responsible for Finance, HR and general administration. She trained with KPMG Brisbane to become a qualified Chartered Accountant before moving to London in 1997. In her last role, Kate served as Finance Director on the Board of Callserve Communications Limited, where she led the due diligence and legal processes for the sale of the company to Vyke Communications plc. Kate also serves as a Board Member and Trustee for Advocate for Mental Health, a charity for service users in Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea.
