Executive Management & Senior Team


Stephen Killeen - Chief Executive OfficerStephen Killeen has been a senior executive in high profile consumer, financial, and technology companies for over 15 years. 

Stephen’s most recent position was as President & CEO, of WorldWinner, a venture backed start-up in the casual games space.  He increased revenues by 5 times and operated the company profitably for four years, he sold the company to London based Fun Technologies which is controlled by Liberty Media.   

Prior to WorldWinner, Stephen was President of TerraLycos the fourth largest media

property in the world where he was responsible for more than 1,200 employees located through out the world. Previously, Stephen was President & CEO, of Raging Bull where he raised over $20 million in venture financing and grew Raging Bull’s market capitalization from $2 million to an eventual sale to AltaVista for over $250 million. Stephen led Fidelity Brokerage Services, the 2nd largest discount broker in the world, introduction of online trading and eventually became responsible for all aspects of Fidelity Brokerage’s P&L and prior to Fidelity, Stephen was a member of the founding team of PCFN (eventually to be renamed DLJdirect) the first online brokerage firm.

Stephen has served on the boards of several public and private sector companies including Switchboard (NASDAQ: SWBD), Lycos Europe (NL: LCY), Molecular and Marketing Services Group (NASDAQ: MSGI). He has also served as a Director of Junior Achievement of North New England and on The Secretary of Commerce's Task Force on Privacy. 

Stephen is a highly regarded speaker and over his career has received numerous awards and honors including being named to the Mass High-Tech Hall of Fame, as a finalist for E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year for New England, as a “Leader Internet Economy” by the Industry Standard and having the unique distinction of managing 2 companies that received Deliotte & Touche Fast 50 award.

Stephen received his BA from Union College in Schenectady, NY in 1984.


 

Mark Armitage - President USMark was appointed to the position of President, U.S in 2007, having worked at The CarbonNeutral Company since 2004. He now has responsibility for establishing and running the U.S arm of the business.

He has spent 20 years working in senior and Board level marketing and commercial roles across leisure, retail and service businesses.

Mark was Group Marketing and Strategy Director at NBrown a leading home shopping company. He also spent 5 years as Commercial Director of a £400M high street retail

operation within the Granada Group responsible for sales, merchandising, strategic partnerships, customer acquisition and retention. In 2000 Granada retail merged with its key competitor, Radio Rentals, following outstanding market sector performance, with Mark taking the Commercial Director position on the Board of the newly formed company.

Prior to this and still within the Granada Group Mark spent 3 years on the Board of a travel company and was instrumental in the rapid and impressive turnaround which paved the way for an eventual sale of a respected but underperforming travel division.

Mark has also worked at Trusthouse Forte where as Marketing Director, Forte Grand, he launched the branded operation in the Middle East. He began his career at British Airways, where he spent five years, predominantly focused on international business development.



 

Sue Welland - Founder and Executive Director, MarketingSue co-founded the company in 1997 after 15 years experience in integrated marketing communications including 5 years in global marketing at British Airways, Eurotunnel, and Visa International.  Sue is responsible for public relations and marketing for the company in addition to providing senior level counselling to clients on strategic communications and positioning on climate change issues.

Sue graduated with a 1st class degree and spent 15 years innovating in big project communications.  In her first 4 years in television, Sue created some of the first sponsored programming on the ITV network, and then moved to British Airways

as part of the ‘Brand’ intake which transformed the airline’s offer.  She launched the business class Club brands, and overhauled the global sponsorship programme.  From there, Sue joined as Director of a PR agency and handled the pan European campaign for Visa Olympics and then moved to Eurotunnel as part of the launch team.   

Sue met co-Founder Dan Morrell in the early 1990s, and they evolved the idea for The CarbonNeutral Company (formerly Future Forests).  They set out to use their skills in communications and customer engagement combined with experience working within commercial organizations, and to apply that to one of the world’s toughest problems – climate change. 

Over the last 10 years, Sue has been the company’s brand guardian, and responsible for TCNC’s profile and marketing activity.  She also continues to work closely with clients to create new ideas and deliver powerful communications.
