As part of its lean manufacturing philosophy, leading US systems furniture company, AIS, wanted to strengthen its commitment to the environment and sustainable growth by becoming the world’s first systems furniture manufacturer to be CarbonNeutral® certified.
As a part of its lean manufacturing philosophy, leading US systems furniture company AIS wanted to strengthen its commitment to the environment and sustainable business growth by neutralising the unavoidable greenhouse gases emissions from its production, warehousing and office facilities in the US. So, to achieve this ambitious aim, AIS partnered with The CarbonNeutral Company to become the world’s first CarbonNeutral® systems furniture manufacturer in 2010.
As many specifiers now seek products and suppliers with environmental standards, AIS looked for a trusted partner to help implement a carbon reduction program and our CarbonNeutral Protocol provided the clear and credible statement that it was looking for.
We undertook a rigorous greenhouse gas assessment of AIS's energy consumption, business travel and waste in order to accurately calculate its carbon footprint during the manufacturing process at its facilities. With this data, we were able to counterbalance the company’s emissions through a number of carbon offset projects that are validated and verified to internationally recognised standards.
As a company, we firmly believe we have a responsibility to reduce the carbon emissions from our manufacturing. We decided on an offset-inclusive carbon management program because it is an effective and immediate way for us to reduce all of our emissions. When we looked at companies we work with, it became very clear that The CarbonNeutral Company has the strongest integrity levels in the market.
