Stephen Killeen
Chief Executive Officer
Stephen Killeen joined The CarbonNeutral Company in 2007 and is its President, CEO and Chairman. Stephen leads the Company’s strategic direction and growth and oversees all aspects of the Company’s operation. His leadership and vision are the driving forces behind The CarbonNeutral Company’s client-centric approach, which has led to the rapid growth of the Company’s global customer base, strategic partnerships, technology platforms and innovative products and services.
For more than 20 years, Stephen has led successful businesses in the finance and technology sectors, and has established a track record for developing innovative business models and services in new industries, and realising shareholder value. Stephen has been at the forefront of several new industries and brings these experiences and insights to the carbon management industry.
Stephen’s most recent role prior to The CarbonNeutral Company was as President and CEO of WorldWinner, a venture backed start-up in the casual games space. He increased revenues by five times and operated the company profitably for four years. WorldWinner was acquired by Liberty Media.
Prior to WorldWinner, Stephen was President of TerraLycos (MADRID & NASDAQ: TRLY), the fourth largest online media property in the world, where he was responsible for more than 1,200 employees located throughout the world.
Previously, Stephen was President and CEO of Raging Bull. He raised over $20 million in venture financing and grew Raging Bull’s market capitalisation from $2 million to an eventual sale to AltaVista for over $250 million.
Stephen led Fidelity Brokerage Services’ introduction of online trading, which catapulted it to one of the largest ecommerce companies in the world. Prior to Fidelity, Stephen was a member of the founding team of PCFN (renamed DLJdirect), the world’s first online brokerage firm.
Stephen currently serves on the board of directors of Shutterfly (NASDAQ: SFLY) and in the past has served on the boards of several public and private sector companies including Switchboard (NASDAQ: SWBD; sold to Infospace), Lycos Europe (NL: LCY), and Molecular (sold to Aegis Media). He has also served on several charitable boards and on the United States Secretary of Commerce's Task Force on Privacy.
Stephen has received numerous awards and honors including the unique distinction of leading two companies that received Deloitte & Touche Fast 50 award. He has also been named a Mass High Tech All-Star, as a finalist for Young Entrepreneur of the Year® for New England and as a “Leader Internet Economy” by the Industry Standard.
Stephen received his BA from Union College in Schenectady, NY in 1984.
