Our company, originally known as Future Forests, was founded in 1997 by two entrepreneurs.  At the time, there was little interest in climate change amongst companies, media or individuals.  Working with a science group in Edinburgh - now the reknowned Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Management - Sue Welland and Dan Morrell teamed up with forestry partners and sold some of the first 'carbon offsets' in the world to consumers and businesses.

In the course of so doing, we pushed the boundaries and created some of the tools which have now been widely adopted: legal contracts for carbon credits; carbon calculators; positive, benefit-led messaging rather than trying to catalyse action through bleak scare tactics; the 'measure, reduce, offset' mantra of CarbonNeutral, our registered trademark.

The icon of a tree and its emotional appeal were critical in capturing the imagination of audiences in the early days.  The market has now grown in sophistication and such obvious symbols are less necessary.  To meet and lead this trend, we have expanded our unique stretch and depth of carbon offset and climate consulting services to help clients measure, reduce and offset their emissions.   This includes complete outsourced carbon management through to fully integrated marketing communications and, on the product side, technology only offset products.   

We deliver all of this through a team of excellent people from a variety of backgrounds: carbon trading; consulting; retailing; engineering; sales; marketing.  This, combined with experience of being in climate change for 10 years, gives us a unique mix of skills to bring to any client situation. 

Some things have not changed, however.  Our brand values are the same as when we established the business  - with the key threads of professionalism, responsibility and integrity running through everything we do.  And our approach continues to be one of positive partnership - we hear, challenge and innovate.
