Our Projects
Our in-house carbon team works through an extensive global network to source quality emissions reductions for our clients. This is helped significantly by our excellent reputation - as a major buyer but also a valued and trusted partner. It means that a myriad of project developers come to us directly offering, primarily, VERs to pass through our screening process. We sell all types of credits - Gold Standard, VCS, VER and CERs etc – from projects which are independent of us ie we are not the project developer.
The types of projects we support include renewable energy, resource conservation and waste reduction. This means everything from solar, hydro and wind through to methane capture - and many of the schemes not only deliver carbon reductions but also clear local and sustainable benefits.
As a philosophy, our carbon team build relationships rather than just buy carbon which means that there are often benefits to project developers over and above carbon finance. We helped create new skills and practices in the energy efficiency project we worked with in Jamaica for example; we are working with one of our Indian project developers to take his technology into a start-up programme in Africa.
You will find some specific examples at our fuller projects section of the website - carbon offset projects - as well as the stepped process we use to contract and verify emission reductions. We may contract with a project at any stage of the project lifecycle, though typically a Project Design Document will have been prepared.
Most of our projects are in the developing world and, as you would expect, we do not support any scheme where there is double counting or a conflict with a national emissions target.
