| The CarbonNeutral Protocol |
| The CarbonNeutral Company is one of the few offset providers supplying good quality advice and carbon offsets, and I applaud them for the integrity with which they have driven forward the agenda on Standards’ Sir Jonathan Porritt |
Carbon offsetting is not regulated – on a global or national basis. That places a considerable onus on those companies offering carbon offsetting to do ‘the right thing’ and to operate in a responsible and fair manner.
Our company is the longest established business in our sector; fairness and quality standards have been critical to us from the beginning.
The CarbonNeutral Protocol is the public standard to which we operate, and it describes the requirements for achieving the CarbonNeutral® brand mark – from carbon footprinting to reductions (including offsets) and communication. The Protocol is evolved through our Independent Advisory Group comprised of NGOs, scientists, academics and businesses.

Revisions to the CarbonNeutral Protocol
From time to time, following discussions with the IAG we make updates to the CNP. Where these updates occur outside the normal review cycle of the Protocol, we list them here together with their effective date pending a full update of the document.
Amendment April 2008: for the purpose of screening against the specific requirements set out in the CNP, VCU’s are given the same status as CERs
